Deputy Minister Mwanjelwa to officiate the second Graduation Ceremony for Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership
Dar es Salaam: Graduation Ceremony for the second cohort of the UONGOZI Institute’s Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership Programme is scheduled to take place on 09th April, 2019 at the Mlimani City Conference Centre, where a total of 33 participants will be awarded their diplomas.
The Ceremony will be officiated by the Deputy Minister, President’s Office – Public Service and Good Governance, Hon. Dr. Mary Mwanjelwa (MP).
Launched in 2017, the Programme is jointly delivered by UONGOZI Institute and Aalto University Executive Education of Finland. The one-year Programme aims to develop leadership competencies in three areas; Making Strategic Choices, Leading People and Other Resources and Excelling in Personal Leadership Qualities.
“We are pleased to note that 97% of the participants, who joined the Programme in April, 2018, will graduate. This has been an intensive and challenging Programme, and the discipline and commitment they have shown is a true testament of their leadership capacity” said Prof. Semboja, CEO of UONGOZI Institute.
The second cohort of participants comprises of senior leaders from various ministries and public agencies of the United Republic of Tanzania.
“Understanding leadership is utterly important. In my view, anyone can be a leader but not all can be effective leaders. Effective leaders must exhibit specific skills and attributes to achieve sustainable results. This Programme has challenged our efficiency, particularly in developing innovative and sustainable solutions, and building winning teams,” said Hon. John Mongella, Regional Commissioner of Mwanza and one of the graduates.
The Ceremony will also be attended by 35 participants from the third cohort of the Programme, scheduled to begin in April, 2019. The cohort includes senior leaders from the Public, Private and Civil Society Organisations within the country.
